Taking over the family shoe business created in 1870 by their great-grandparents in La Gaubretière, in the French Vendée region, Guy and Yvon RAUTUREAU founded the RAUTUREAU APPLE SHOES company in 1970. Their competitors in the region being specialised in mass-produced, low-cost products, they decided to set themselves apart, aiming higher and building a strong brand name. In 1973, they launched POM D'API, a very creative selection of children’s shoes. The brand won immediate professional acclaim (Creativity Oscar in Milan as early as 1974) and sales took off, both in France and elsewhere. The first franchise opened in Paris in the early 1980s, followed a year later by the first branch. The essence of the brand has not changed since: POM D'API shoes are high-quality, original and creative, for lively children who are full of imagination. The brand has become a reference in the creation of children’s shoes. It covers a wide range of European sizes, from 16 to 40. Our products are distributed by specialist children’s shoe shops, by off-the-peg clothes shops, by department stores and by a network of boutiques (branches and franchises). POM D'API endeavours to work with the best sales outlets throughout the world. Creators of shoes for Children!
